Our Project SEARCH interns are making a huge impact at Integris Health Edmond! Currently, interns are completing a rotation on the Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Floor, where they are learning the ropes of being a Therapy Tech.
Under the guidance of their Skills Trainer, Instructor, and Integris Mentors, these interns are mastering essential hospital operations, including:
🧼 Sanitizing gym equipment
📦 Stocking supplies & building kits
📅 Delivering daily schedules
The Best Part? Interns aren’t just working; they’re connecting! Their favorite moments involve assisting with Music Therapy, helping patients during cooking activities with the Recreation Therapist, and assembling new equipment.
It takes great cleaning skills, physical stamina, and top-tier customer service to excel here. We are so proud of our interns for embracing the role of caregiver during this year-long journey!

While celebrating People with Disabilities Awareness Day ♿, interns visited the Oklahoma Capitol 🏛️ to brief Legislative Assistants on their progress. They spoke confidently, sharing their firsthand experiences interning at Integris Health Edmond 🏥. From the specific departments they’re mastering to their ultimate goal of competitive employment 💼, these interns made their voices heard! 🎤👏
We wrapped up the day at the Oklahoma History Center 🏛️📚, where the interns connected with vendors and disability service providers, building the networks that will support them long after graduation. 🤝🌟

Thanks to Oklahoma CareerTech, our interns got to explore 11 different careers using virtual reality headsets. It was amazing watching all four interns “work” in four totally different VR job experiences — all at the same time, in the same room! 🤯💼✨
We also hosted our annual Open House Information Night, where interns proudly shared their favorite parts of Project SEARCH along with the job tasks they enjoy most. Their confidence and growth shine brighter every year! 💬👏
And if that wasn’t enough excitement, we spent time volunteering at the zoo — and yes, we spotted so many adorable baby animals! 🐾🦒🐧

From practicing professional skills 📝 to exploring real-world healthcare tasks 🏥, they are building confidence 💪, responsibility ⭐, and a passion for helping others 💙. We’re so proud of their hard work 👏 and dedication 🌟 as they explore future careers in healthcare and learn about important medical tools 🧰 and procedures 🧪 for their own health!
